Newport, OR – Based on her key role in the bank’s continued strong financial performance, the Board of Directors of Oregon Coast Bank has unanimously voted to promote Cora Warfield to the position of Senior Vice President / Bank Operations. Warfield first joined Oregon Coast Bank’s management team in the spring of 2002, before the bank opened its first office. Since then, she has played an active part in the bank’s rapid growth to its current level of three offices and more than $83 million in total assets.
Warfield began her banking career at the Newport branch of National Security Bank in 1978, the day after she graduated from Toledo High School. In 18 years with National Security Bank she held positions as new accounts representative, teller, loan processor, head teller and in the credit card and accounting divisions. She then worked for more than five years at Newport-based Lincoln Security Bank where she was credited with coordinating the bank’s successful Y2K compliance efforts and was promoted to Assistant Vice President / Bank Operations. Preferring to work at a locally-owned community bank, she left that position in early 2002 after Lincoln Security Bank was acquired by Umpqua Bank, a large regional chain.
Warfield and her husband Terry, who works in a family owned logging firm, are longtime and active residents of Toledo. The couple has two children: Rachel, 22, a student at Oregon State University and Mathew, 20, a student at Southern Oregon University. Cora Warfield’s extensive civic activities include the Toledo Summer Festival Committee and the Toledo Fire Department Budget Committee. She currently serves as treasurer of Lincoln County Food Share.
“In this era of specialization, bankers with a wide range of expertise are rare and extremely valuable,” commented Fred Postlewait, President and Chief Executive Officer of Oregon Coast Bank. “Cora is able to oversee personnel training, computers, advertising and many other management functions all in a coordinated package.”
