Toledo, OR – Jake Postlewait, Manager of Oregon Coast Bank’s Toledo office, has been appointed to a 3-year term on the Oregon Dungeness Crab Commission by Nick Furman, the commission’s Executive Director. The 9-person commission is made up of four representatives from the fishing industry, four representatives from the seafood processing industry, and one representative from the general public, the position Postlewait will hold. The commission holds public meetings five times per year in locations up and down the coast.

Postlewait grew up in Newport and studied Forestry Management and Liberal Studies for four years at Oregon State University. An All-Pac 10 Conference baseball pitcher – “the Beavers started winning national championships after I left,” jokes Postlewait – he was then drafted by the Colorado Rockies and spent three years in the minor leagues. Between seasons he began working at Oregon Coast Bank, where he was trained in all aspects of community banking. In March of 2007 he joined the bank on a permanent basis working in commercial and real estate lending. He has served as Manager of Oregon Coast Bank in Toledo since the office first opened in January of 2010.

Postlewait and his wife Liz, a teacher, have two children and reside in Toledo. The couple enjoys fishing, hiking and hunting in the local area. Jake is also locally known for his skill in taxidermy.

“The Dungeness crab industry remains highly important to our local economy,” comments Postlewait. “We need to continue to be good stewards of the fishery and I’m honored to serve on the commission.”
