Rob Thompson Joins Oregon Coast Bank Board of Directors

Newport, OR –Lifelong Newport resident and third generation business owner Rob Thompson has accepted a position on the Oregon Coast Bank Board of Directors. Locally owned and operated, Oregon Coast Bank has offices in Newport, Lincoln City, Pacific City and Waldport. Thompson is the eighth member of the bank’s board and the first new addition since the bank was chartered in 2002.

Rob Thompson serves as president of Thompson Sanitary Service, a business he co-owns with his brother, Ken Riley. Founded by their grandmother and grandfather and later owned by their parents, Thompson Sanitary Service will celebrate its 45th anniversary this year. The company, which has 23 employees, provides residential and commercial solid waste removal and recycling. Thompson Sanitary Service’s recycling of e-waste, latex paint, batteries, white goods, appliances & freezers, fiber products, tin, aluminum and plastics has more than doubled in the past three years.

Born in Newport, Rob Thompson is a graduate of Newport High School and Oregon State University, where he received a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management Information Systems. Rob and his wife of 10 years, Aimee, have three daughters, Jillian, 5; Piper, 3 and Blair, 9 months. In his spare time Rob is an avid golfer and pilot. Active in the Newport High School Booster Club and the Rotary Club of Newport, Thompson was named Rotarian of the Year in 2006 – 2007. Regionally, Thompson is the chairman of the ORRA (Oregon Refuse and Recycling Association) Government Affairs Committee. He also serves as chairman of the ORRA’s Health Insurance Trust.
